Activan la Guardia Nacional para contener disturbios en Chicago
El acceso vehicular al centro de Chicago también fue restringido.

“Sé que muchas personas se sienten asustadas e inquietas, pero no me disculpo”, dijo Lightfoot. “Siempre voy a tomar decisiones difíciles y necesarias. Chicago es fuerte. Esta es nuestra casa. Esta es una ciudad que construimos con nuestra sangre, sudor y lágrimas”.
Miembros de la Guardia Nacional han sido llamados a Chicago mientras la ciudad se prevé más protestas luego de una noche de enfrentamientos y saqueos a pesar de que la alcaldesa decretó un toque de queda en toda la ciudad la noche del sábado.
La alcaldesa de Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, dijo que le solicitó al gobernador Pritzker, la movilización de un contingente de la Guardia Nacional para responder y brindar apoyo a la policía para que no se repita lo que se vivió el sábado.
La medida se suma a un toque de queda en toda la ciudad que permanece vigente diariamente desde las 9 p.m. hasta las 6 a.m. "hasta nuevo aviso".

El domingo y durante una rueda de prensa autoridades en Chicago confirmaron que los disturbios del sábado dejaron un saldo de 240 arrestados, 6 personas baleadas y cerca de 20 oficiales de la policía heridos.
Este domingo la policía estatal anunció que el tráfico en las autopistas principales hacia el centro de Chicago cerrará como medida preventiva en caso de que estallen nuevas manifestaciones.
Habrá bloqueos en toda la zona del Loop y solo se le permitirá el paso a empleados de los negocios del área, residentes y trabajadores esenciales.
Los cierrres y bloqueos por los disturbios incluyen:
División St. desde Lake Shore Drive a N. Halsted St.
N. Halsted desde Division St. hasta Milwaukee Ave. y Grand Ave.
Milwaukee Ave. desde Grand Ave. hasta Kinzie St.
Canal St. desde Kinzie St. hasta 26th St.
26th St. desde Canal St. hasta Lake Shore Drive
Además, la CTA anunció que todo el servicio de autobuses y trenes se paralizará a partir de las 6:30 p.m. del domingo hasta el lunes en la mañana debido a podrían estallar más disturbios durante la noche.
