Aylan Kurdi tenía 3 años, era un refugiado sirio y, junto con su familia, quería llegar a Grecia. Su bote naufragó y murió junto a su madre y su hermano dos años mayor.
Pero su pequeño cuerpo, vestido con una playera roja, shorts de mezclilla y calzado oscuro, de cara a la arena mientras el agua le tocaba la cabeza, quedó inmortalizado en una imagen captada por la fotoperiodista turca Nilüfer Demir.
